I look forward to working alongside YOU in whatever path you have decided to take in life (or life has taken you on). I have unique experience and training in helping others through the grieving and bereavement processes. My typical client is 14+ years old. I tend to focus on a DBT heavy approach to therapy and can also provide EMDR for people who have experienced trauma. I am very experienced in working with the LGBTQ, transgender, kink and polyamorous communities. I am an approved clinical supervisor through the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners and I am eager to assist others in becoming clinically licensed.
Twelve years of practicing social work has given me experience working with: people in the Queer/LGBT community, people struggling with gender identity issues or who are in the process of transitioning as well as the polyamorous and kink communities. I also hold a special place in my heart for working with those who are experiencing grief and loss.
One of the hardest parts of counseling is making the initial call to establish a therapeutic relationship, you have come this far and I know that was not easy, give me a call and see where it takes you. If you find animals comforting, please let me know as I have a sweet therapy dog who would love to join our session.
I work with adolescents (14+) and adults with a focus on the LGBTQIA+ community. I collaborate with my clients as we work through issues such as Personality Disorders, Mood Disorders, Trauma, Anxiety, and Life Transitions. I also specialize in working with those who have experienced pet loss and grief, have witnessed/been exposed to animal violence, and Veterinary Professionals experiencing Compassion Fatigue and Burnout. I work from a client-centered approach, understanding that each client is the expert in their own experience.
I work from a trauma-informed lens and draw from attachment theories and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and believe this therapy can be useful for client's of many different backgrounds. Each client is different, and I collaborate with each person to find the therapy that is the best fit.
I strive to create a warm and empathetic space where my clients feel respected and heard. My co-therapist is a golden retriever who is a trained therapy dog. She offers comfort and helps my clients build trust. The relationship between the client and therapist is of utmost importance. I welcome your call to see if I am a good fit for your needs.
